Welcome to the fourth newsletter of the NPP-SOL project!

NPP-SOL project, funded by PRIMA Programme, integrates site-specific best management practices (SSBMP) and Pollution-Preventing Technologies (PPTs) to improve soil, water, fertilizers and crop management with site-tailored and affordable-cost technologies to prevent natural bodies pollution.
NPP-SOL is implemented in four Case Studies (Israel, Italy, Morocco and Spain).

This newsletter provides you with news, updates, events, useful links and resources related to NPP-SOL project and its topics.
Have a good read!

3 – Italian Local Hub Meeting: First Results on Arborea Plain Aquifer Bioreactors

November 5, 2025 | The periodic meeting of the Italian Local Hub took place in Cagliari, hosted by the Regional Agency of the Hydrographic District of Sardinia (ADIS).
The meeting served as a platform to share the most recent results and discuss future directions for the in-situ bioremediation of the Arborea Plain aquifer, focusing on nitrate pollution caused by agro-livestock activities.

The event marked an important milestone in advancing practical solutions for protecting groundwater resources in vulnerable areas and demonstrates the value of multi-stakeholder collaboration in environmental management.

5 – Online Training session on bioeconomic modeling

September 15, 2025 | CIHEAM Montpellier organized an online training session on bioeconomic modeling, bringing together a diverse group of academic and institutional participants.
The training highlighted how modeling provides a safe environment to test strategies before real-life investments or changes are made, while preparing participants to design and propose their own scenarios. The session concluded with an open discussion, where participants suggested additional scenarios for future testing and shared perspectives on public policy, sustainable input management, and crop diversification.
