Fist local hub meeting, Zaragoza

Strengthening Science-Society Links: The First Local Hub Meeting of NPP-SOL

On January 23rd, the first meeting of the project’s local hub took place in the Lerma Basin (Ejea de los Caballeros, Zaragoza). The meeting focused on the prevention of nitrate contamination in groundwater and surface water through innovative technological and modeling tools.

During this meeting, our MAiMA team (Albert Soler Gil, Manuela Barbieri, and Rosanna Margalef Marti), alongside Jesús Causapé from the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute, presented the context, the objectives, and the tasks of the project to the local actors of the Lerma Basin.

This meeting with local stakeholders provided an opportunity for fruitful discussion with representatives from the agricultural and livestock sectors. This exchange was crucial for gaining a deeper understanding of local farming practices, irrigation systems, fertilization needs, and regulatory challenges.

Heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their participation and valuable contributions. Special thanks go to Quesería Biota, Riegos Saltz, Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro, Cooperativa Virgen de la Oliva, CENTRO TECNOLÓGICO AGROPECUARIO CINCO VILLAS SL, Comunidad General de Regantes del Canal de Bardenas, Comunidad de Regantes nº V de Bardenas, and Comunidad de Regantes nº XI de Bardenas.

Collaboration continues to drive efforts toward a more sustainable future!
